5MW - Pre-commercial demonstrator

3/4th
2020

BIG STEP

Awarded by the French environment agency, Eolink received subsidies to fully design a 3:4th scale prototype. The company has been working on the project from 2019 to 2020, developing a totally new product. The 3:4th scale prototype is Eolink' first commercial floating wind turbine, wich is able to produce up to 17 GWh per year in its 140 meters diameter configuration.

COST EFFECTIVE DEMONSTRATION

By demonstrating its ability to produce inexpensive electricity, Eolink will be the fourth company in the world to achieve 5 MW of power on a floating wind turbine. The wind turbine will produce at least 14 GWh, generating a turnover of 2.4 M€ per year thanks to the feed-in-tariff granted by the French government.

Technically, the float is tailored-made but its equipments are commercially available. In particular, the turbine is an industrial direct-drive generator. It is slightly adapted to be fixed to the float at its two ends.

Commissioned in 2023, in France, this wind turbine will be adapted to the floating wind turbine market, but Eolink also wishes to rely on the measurement results of this demonstration to validate the sizing of its future 15 MW machine.
